Ypsilanti singer/songwriter Timothy Monger fuses melodic indie pop with folk traditions and lyrics that celebrate literature, nature, offbeat characters, and an abiding love of the arcane. As a solo artist, he has recorded four unique albums ranging in style from the lush baroque pop of his 2004 debut to the homespun psych-folk of his eponymous fourth album, released earlier this year.
An enduring presence among Southeast Michigan's indie landscape, Monger rose to prominence in the mid-2000s as co-leader of Ann Arbor cult favorites Great Lakes Myth Society. He later formed his solo band Timothy Monger State Park which continues to perform around the state and released its first EP in 2021. Monger's newest album, a self-recorded, self-titled set on which he played every instrument, was released in June 2023. He will be performing as a duo with singer, violinist, and percussionist Carol Catherine. Opening set by Jim Roll.
