Spencer LaJoye & Annie Bacon

  • North Star Lounge 301 N. Fifth Ave Ann Arbor United States (map)

Spencer LaJoye is an East Coast singer/songwriter with Midwest roots, a classically-trained violinist with a proclivity for Broadway vocals, and a student of Americana music with a theology degree hanging in their studio. The 2021 Kerrville Songwriting Competition winner spins crystalline vocals through a loop pedal while strumming an acoustic guitar in charming, banter-heavy performances that keep audiences laughing one moment and weeping the next. On February 16, 2024, LaJoye released Shadow Puppets, a 12-track, indie-folk tale of a formerly closeted queer kid from Southwest Michigan.

Annie Bacon is a writer, and songwriter living in Ann Arbor, Michigan with her tween kid. With her OSHEN she merges a literary writing style and folk-rock Americana sound to create rich and emotionally complex music. She also composed a Folk Opera, has written a forthcoming novel on themes of motherhood & war, is currently collaborating on an original full-length musical called The Keeper, and lends her talents through the Midwest as a harmony singer. Her latest album Storm is due out in April/May 2024.
