Ananda Murari is a Singer Songwriter based in Ypsilanti, MI, who received his name while living in yoga monastaries as a young adult throughout the US and India. His interest in songwriting took birth when he first heard the political poetry of Bob Dylan and the rebel music of Bob Marley on two CD’s that he had acquired from a friend. The clarity and poignancy of their lyrics was deeply moving and gave rise to a love affair with songwriting.
Ananda’s music echos the chordal sounds of jazz and the earnestness of blues/Americana. His debut, shoe-string budget EP, “Mosaics of Many Years” paints a picture of songs written both before and after his time in the Monastery, depicting the internal process of coming of age and discovering oneself. The current batch of songs coming for his debut album “Ripen Off the Vine” speaks to the assimilation of lessons learned and anticipated growth.
