Trombonist/vocalist Tbone Paxton and percussionist RJ Spangler will be reunited with pianist/vocalist Doug Brown, hot on the heels of the release of his first jazz CD with jazz luminaries drummer Billy Hart and Doug's brother, bassist Cameron Brown. The three go back to the old days of performing on Detroit's east side in the 80's and 90s. They will be backed by RJ and Tbone's excellent band that includes guitarist Matt LoRusso, bassist Trevor Lamb and drummer Sean Perlmutter.
On any given night the the Paxton/Spangler Band performs great song by Fats Waller, Hoagie Carmichael, Leonard Cohen, Hank Williams, Earl King, Danny Barker, Duke Ellington, The Stylistics, Roy Ayers, Leon Russell, Jimmy Cliff, Nat King Cole and of course, Louis Jordan. They have first-hand experience backing New Orleans greats like Johnny Adams and Earl King. RJ was pianist/singer Eddie Bo's bandleader up North for many years. And of course they have performed together and separately in New Orleans.
Tbone Paxton's new CD "Joys" did well on the charts, receiving airplay across the US and in Europe.
