The Alex Anest Organ Trio returns to North Star Lounge on Wednesday June 12th for a night of soulful and swinging music. Original tunes as well as works by the likes of Duke Pearson, Emily Remler, Ernie Krivda, Christine Jensen, and Herbie Hancock have found their way into the set list. The lineup includes Jordan Anderson on organ and David Ward on Drums. The focus is on working together and connecting with the audience through improvisation, groove, and feel. Music should be fun to listen to as well as to play, and this trio is all about enjoying the music. The Alex Anest Organ Trio has lately been performing at clubs and festivals around Southeast Michigan and Ohio including dates at Con Alma in Pittsburgh, Cliff Bell's in Detroit, Ginger Rabbit in Columbus, and the Treelawn Social Club in Cleveland.

Jordan Anderson is a multifaceted musician and keyboardist from Minneapolis, Minnesota. His upbringing was largely influenced by the diverse array of music his parents exposed him to, and at age 7 he chose the piano as a means to further express his musicality. Jordan’s primary education came from the mentorship acquired through his attendance at Walker West Music Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota, which proved invaluable to Jordan’s development and played part in future successes, such as earning a BFA in Jazz Studies at University of Michigan in Spring 2020, where he had the privilege of studying under Benny Green, Andy Milne, and Bob Hurst, and earning a Master’s degree in Jazz Studies at Michigan State University studying with jazz veteran Xavier Davis. Jordan has performed with some of Detroit Metro’s finest musicians, such as Vincent Chandler, Leonard King, Diego Rivera, Noah Jackson, Rodney Whitaker, and Andrew Bishop. He is currently a member of the Vincent Chandler Collective, the Ann Arbor-based funk band Sabbatical Bob, and the Gathering Orchestra, which is led by Rodney Whitaker, Walter Blanding and Vincent Chandler.
David Ward is a drummer, producer, emcee and bandleader residing in Ypsilanti Michigan. His main projects include drumming and co-leading local Funk band Sabbatical Bob and drumming in a progressive rnb band based in Grand Rapids MI, “Earth Radio”. A transplant from Portland Oregon, David attended the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre and Dance as a jazz performance major and has since begun to breakout into the Michigan music scene.
